Marcia Resnick (b.1950, Bklyn, NY) studied art at NYU, Cooper Union and California Institute of the Arts where she studied with John Baldessari and Allen Kaprow. She began photographing in 1970. Re-visions, a book of her images about female adolescence was published by The Coach House Press, Toronto, 1978. She taught photography at Queens College and NYU by day and then explored fame, sexuality, and individual style while photographing leading figures in the punk music scene — as seen in her photo book Punks, Poets, and Provocateurs: New York City Bad Boys 1977-1982, (Insight, 2015). The work has been exhibited and collected by the National Portrait Gallery in DC; The George Eastman House, Rochester; the Met and MoMA, NYC; Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam; the Getty Museum, LA, and elsewhere.
