A native Nevadan, Alison Elizabeth Taylor lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She is known for her marquetry hybrids. Her innovative technique comprises inlaid wood, painting, and collaged textures. Says Taylor, “The natural beauty inherent in finished wood draws attention to themes more subtle or complex.” She received her M.F.A. from Columbia University, Graduate School of the Arts in 2005 and has held solo exhibits at James Cohan, at galleries around the nation, and abroad. Taylor completed a room-sized permanent installation, Reclamation, for the new Cornell Tech campus on Roosevelt Island, NY in 2017.
