Mary Frank was born in England in 1933 and was sent to live with her grandparents in Brooklyn early in World War II. She studied modern dance with Martha Graham and a fixation on the figure became a defining part of her signature iconography. She is a sculptor (known for work in clay), a painter, draftswoman, and illustrator. A recipient of many awards, her work is included in the permanent collections of MoMA, the Whitney, and the Hirshhorn to name a few. Mary is represented by DC Moore Gallery, Steven Harvey Fine Art Projects in NYC and Elena Zang Gallery in Woodstock.
